June 16th Lound Wood
Summary : Overcast and mild with heavy rain earlier. A catch of 175 moths of 55 species in 3h 10m trapping time (22:00-01:10h) Temperature 13.5 - 12.5C. A night which proved to be much better than expected after the area experienced torrential rain earlier in the afternoon. Highlight of the session was the Great Oak Beauty, which was the last moth to arrive at the trap and was not an expected species here. Sherwood Forest is believed to be the only site for Great Oak Beauty in Nottinghamshire and Lound Wood certainly lies well away from the nearest habitat.

Summary : Clear and warm. A catch of 219 moths of 63 species in 2h 45m trapping time (22:00-00:45h) Temperature 14 - 11C. Two Phlyctaenia perlucidalis were the first records here since 2003. The moth is a scarce Pyralid across the UK and records have an easterly bias across the country. There are only a limited number of Notts records (the first from Newstead Abbey in 1991) with a few more since that date. Treble Lines was another new moth for the area.
