Stonechat
Saxicola
torquata ssp.rubicola |
 |
|
Early
March should see the first real indications of
visible migration and bring with it scarcer birds
such as Stonechat to the Eakring area. Spring 2008 saw
record numbers in March, followed in late April
by this male, that showed characteristics of the
Continental race. Nearly 50 Stonechats have been
recorded here since the first in 1999.

| Sherwood
Forest - a brief invertebrate history |

is Robin Hood. Many thousands of tourists
visit the site throughout the year to see

tourism puts money into the local

additional pressures on the forest's
already fragile ecology. |
