Case-bearing Clothes Moth Tinea
pellionella (Linnaeus, 1758) |
Status
.....Our only records of this small, rather drab
coloured moth are from singles attracted to MV light at Eakring in 2007
and Market Warsop in 2024, but it is presumed to be widespread across
much of Nottinghamshire, although only occasionally recorded from other
sites. In 2011, we collected some larvae feeding on old carpet from a
house in Nottingham and reared them through to adult. Unusually, for a
case-bearing larva, the case
is a distinct tube and open at both ends. |
