June
8th Red Hill
|
Summary
: Overcast, very mild and
breezy. Temperature dropping to 12.5C. Trap
was run from 22:15-00:15h. Large numbers of both
Middle-barred Minor and Silver-ground Carpet
dominated the sessions trapping in meadowland.
The site was initially chosen in order to
potentially lessen the numbers/species arriving
at the trap, but the night proved to be
incredibly busy throughout. A good westerly
breeze, saw the majority of moths arriving at the
light, flying into the wind. Some eight new
species for the area were trapped amongst a very
varied catch list. Total catch consisted of 553
moths of 43 species. |
