Although still largely ignored at many moth traps and despite often making up to 50% of the catch, the interest in micro moth recording has increased substantially in recent years.

Corresponding with this interest, has been the growing requirement for an official county micro moth species list, to replace the combined list of both macro and micro moths, produced back in 1993 by the late Ken Cooper and Dr Sheila Wright.

Records have been sourced from a number of local moth recorders, including Graham and Anona Finch, the Lound Moth Group and many others who were kind enough to send us their personal county species lists. Carr's book "The Invertebrate Fauna of Nottinghamshire" was used for all the historical species records, which were relatively few when compared to the list which follows, showing how much better the modern day coverage of is.

Dave Budworth, the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire county micro moth recorder, will be working with us on this project, by both checking and finalising the listed species, as having occurred in Nottinghamshire in a later version.

The numbers before each entry are the "Bradley and Fletcher numbers", or Log Book numbers from "A Recorder's Log Book or Label List of British Butterflies and Moths" by J.D. Bradley and D.S. Fletcher. Species names and Bradley and Fletcher number order, are as currently listed on the UK Moths website and in some cases are not in sequence.
