A rare Nottinghamshire moth, with a range restricted (as far as is
known) to the Sherwood Forest area, with just two modern records. It was
first recorded at Sherwood Forest in 2014
(Heeney, W.) and found for a second time recently, when an adult
was taken from the trunk of the Centre Tree at Clipstone Old Quarter in
May 2025 (Pendleton, T.A.). This moth
is similar to several other species, but can be told (or suspected) from
Nemapogon cloacella, by the obvious larger size and
distinctively yellow head. |
