Stigmella continuella (Stainton, 1856)
Evidence suggests that this leaf miner is rarely recorded in Nottinghamshire and while much of this may be down to the lack of recorder effort and coverage, it may be that this species is not that common, or easy to find. Indeed, the mines of Stigmella continuella are not easy to detect on the leaves of Birch, so great credit must go to Graham Beeley, who found the mine at Rainworth Heath in November 2024. There are at least two other recent county records, from Clumber Park in 2022 and again in 2025. It may ultimately prove to be more widespread, if looked for.
