Stigmella confusella (Wood, 1894)
This is an under-recorded leaf miner of Birch, which has rarely been recorded in Nottinghamshire over recent years. Graham Beeley recorded it near Strawberry Hill Heath in July 2025, and it was subsequently found at Clumber Park (Pendleton, T.A.) and at Sherwood Forest (Nick and Samantha Brownley).

Care has to be taken when identifying this mine as the mine of Stigmella lapponica is very similar, only the first quarter of the mine, is filled with green frass, whereas the mine of Stigmella confusella has a narrow line of frass from the very start of the mine.
