Thought only a short while ago, not to have occurred in Nottinghamshire
before a number of leaf mines were found on Goat Sallow at Dukes Wood in
November 2022. However, there appears to have been a record of a moth
bred from a leaf mine from Colwick in the 1990
(Boot, A.). There are several Phyllonorycters which mine
the leaves of Goat Sallow, including both P. dubitella and
P. hilarella and the mines and pupae of both species are impossible
to tell apart. The mines illustrated below, are considered most likely
to be those of dubitella. |
