Pediasia contaminella (Hübner, 1796)
Very much a moth of dry, grassy habitats of south-eastern counties. But although there is a solitary Yorkshire record on the NBN Atlas, Nottinghamshire is very much at the northerly limit of this moth's UK range. This is a rare moth in Nottinghamshire, with just five recent records from sites in the east of the county, with a single from Netherfield in 2023 (Shields, T.), two records from Broadholme in July and August 2024 (Gray, M.) from Langford Lowfields in June 2025 (Morton, D. and Ashley, A.) and Elkesley in July 2025 (Coombes, P.). Grateful thanks go to Dave Morton for providing the specimen illustrated below.
