Peacock Moth Macaria notata (Linnaeus, 1758)
Status .....Somewhat rare in Nottinghamshire, although not graded as rare as it perhaps should to be, as it seems there have only been three (officially accepted) Nottinghamshire records, with singles taken at Bunny Wood in 1992 (Finch, G. and Finch A.), Misson Carr in 2003 (Radford, J.) and Misson Carr again in 2023. However, there appears to be a couple of other records from Willwell Farm Cutting in 1983 (per Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust) and Budby Moor in 2003 (Finch, G. and Finch A.),

Photographed at Misson Carr June 2023
