Obscure Wainscot Leucania obsoleta (Hübner, 1803)
This is a rare moth in Nottinghamshire, with just a handful of records as of June 2024. As would be expected with a species of wetland habitats, the Trent Valley has seen 75% of the county's records so far, with just the one exception. All recent records have come from Besthorpe in 2003, Netherfield in 2019, Broadholme 2023, both Bestwood and Langford Lowfields in 2024 and Spalford Warren in 2026. Grateful thanks go to Dave Morton and Andy Ashley, for providing the Langford Lowfields moth of June 2024, for inclusion on eakringbirds.com.
