Nemapogon clematella (Haworth, 1828)
Status .....Originally thought to be an uncommon moth in Nottinghamshire, based purely on the lack of previously published records. There are recent records from Broadholme (Gray, M.) and Wellow Park in 2019, then at Wellow Park again in 2025, when we found evidence of larval feeding on coppiced Hazel growing in shady conditions.

A number of other records have followed as a result of specifically targetted surveys during 2025, and it has been found to be more common than was supposed. Consequently, it is believed that any woodland with coppiced Hazel Corylus avellana infected with the Fungi Hypoxylon fuscum, will probably hold this moth. Records of larval feeding signs/galleries, have come from Lound Wood, Warsop Wood, Kirton Wood, Kirkby-in-Ashfield and other sites.
