Matilella fusca (Haworth, 1811) .... Formerly known as Pyla fusca
Status .....Apparently a very rare moth in Nottinghamshire, but there are reports that this moth may be turning up in gardens more regularly, through the increased use of ornamental Ericas (Heathers) in gardens. As if to support this, the individual photographed below, was trapped by Phil Cadman in his suburban Worksop garden in August 2017, well away from the nearest heathland. We only know of a single other Nottinghamshire record, when one turned up in the Rothamsted trap run at the Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre in 1987 (Bee, L and Parrack, J.D.).
