Figure of Eight Diloba caeruleocephala (Linnaeus, 1758)  
Status .....Declined enormously over the course of the last century, to the point of extinction as a breeding species in Nottinghamshire. There are records from Sherwood Forest CP in both 1985 and 1986, and from both Bunny (Marchant, M.) and Misson Carr in 2003 (Waring, P.). The isolated nature of these few records, would perhaps suggest that this moth is prone to occasional wandering in favourable years. The Sherwood Forest records were the first there in almost 100 years and it has never been recorded since and the two 2003 records, were from opposing ends of the county.
