Sometimes called the Spruce Seed Moth, Cydia strobilella
was only recently recorded new to Nottinghamshire, when an adult emerged
from Spruce cones (probably those of Picea breweriana) collected from Clumber
Park by Samantha Batty in March 2026. More county records should soon
follow and similarly collecting the cones of Spruce such as Picea
abies and Picea breweriana, is likely to
pay off, but there is a pheremone lure available (the STR lure) which
should prove successful too. Grateful thanks to Samantha Batty, for providing
the specimen photographed below. |
