Bucculatrix cidarella (Zeller, 1839)
Found new to Nottinghamshire on the site of the former Bevercotes Colliery as recently as October 2026 (Brownley, N. and Brownley, S.), but this is a very difficult miner to determine. The early mines of Stigmella glutinosae and Stigmella alnetella are the two confusion species, however, the larva of Bucculatrix cidarella exits the mine upperside of the leaf, while the two Stigmellas both exit underside. There are some other slight differences, so care must be taken with any identification.

Thanks go to Nick and Samantha for providing the leaf mines illustrated below, which were within a sample of mines, which did include Stigmella glutinosae.
