Blossom Underwing Orthosia miniosa ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)
Status .....It seems highly unlikely that this moth has ever really been perminently resident in Nottinghamshire and it has declined generally from many UK sites over the past number of years, with many recent records thought to refer to migrants from the continent. The one illustrated, was trapped at MV light and photographed by Tim Sexton at Attenborough NR in April 2019, which followed one at Broadholme on 22/04/11 (Gray, M.). Both these records were the first in the county for over a century.

But it seems that there may be a potentially developing story regarding this species, with a cluster of records from the south-east of the county in 2024 and 2025, featuring singles attracted to light from Saxondale in 22/03/24 (Cooper, C.) East Bridgford on 26/03/25 and 11/04/25 (Reece, J. and Reece, L.) and from Dewberry Hill GC on 12/04/25 (Dulwich, P.). Current speculation, is along the lines of this moth perhaps being in the process of colonising the UK and Nottinghamshire, but there have been large numbers of presumed migrants, turning up along some parts of the south coast too.
