Coleophora lutipennella (Zeller, 1838)
Status .....Very common at Eakring and other sites visited. The larval case of Coleophora lutipennella is very similar to that of Coleophora flavipennella, but easily told apart if found as a young case over the Winter months, as the case of C. lutipennella overwinters fixed in the axil of a bud (as shown below) while that of C. flavipennella overwinters at the joint of two twigs. The larva starts feeding again around mid-April, making a new case within a day or two following overwintering.
