Wax Moth Galleria mellonella (Linnaeus, 1758)
Status .....From the general lack of records sent in to us by numerous recorders, this moth may actually be quite uncommon in Nottinghamshire. Its a species we have recorded on relatively few occasions in over the years, with records from Lound, Sherwood Forest and Market Warsop in 2023. At the latter site, our records include several moths attracted to MV light and one near the entrance to a very active Honey Bee nest located in the trunk of a large Beech tree.
