Species migration 1998-2010

Starling
Often the most spectacular of migrants, needing no introduction to visible migration enthusiasts. Autumn migration is characterised by often huge, ground-hugging flocks moving west. During large movements, flocks can sometimes be so strung out along a north/south line, that they appear almost endless. An Autumn peak occurs in October and November. In Spring, flocks move directly east or north-east, but numbers have always been considerably less than later in the year.
