One of the most regularly
recorded migrants during both migration periods. Spring
2001 was an exceptional season, which has never been
repeated, but highest numbers always come during the
Autumn. It was also in early October 2001, that a record
number were recorded during a prolonged period of
migration. Autumn migration is southerly biased, becoming
largely westerly in early November, possibly through
birds of continental origin moving through. A highest
single day count of 1 045 on 9th October 2001 remains a
record. |
