Sitochroa verticalis (Linnaeus, 1758)
This is a rare moth in Nottinghamshire, with just a handful of recent records coming from Kirkby-in-Ashfield in 2002 and 2022 (Nevin, R.), Broadholme in 2024 (Gray, M.) and Besthorpe NR in late August 2025 (Pendleton, T.A.). It is listed in J.W. Carr's book  'The Invertebrate Fauna of Nottinghamshire. Nottingham: J.& H. Bell Ltd (1916)' as having occurred historically in Nottinghamshire, but it seems genuinely rare and recent records may possibly refer to genuine migrants.

Photographed at Besthorpe NR, August 2025.
