Lead-coloured Drab Orthosia populeti (Fabricius, 1781)
Status .....Lead-coloured Drab remains something of a county rarity and in recent years, despite something of an increase at times, it can go 'missing' for a number of years before being recorded again. Regular trapping in habitat containing Poplar and Aspen, ought to be productive in attracting this moth to light.

Nottinghamshire's first confirmed record for many years (since 1988) came from Southwell in 2006 (Wright, S. and Osbourne, J.E.), but the moth didn't appear again in the county until 2011, when it was recorded annually for a number of years until 2018. There appear to be no published records of Lead-coloured Drab in Nottinghamshire, until one turned up at MV light at Langford Lowfields in March 2026 (Ashley, A. and Morton, D.).

Thanks to members of the Lound Moth Group (lower photographs) and Dave Morton and Andy Ashley (upper photographs) for providing the specimens shown below.
