Large Clover Case-bearer Coleophora trifolii (Curtis, 1832)
Status .....Probably quite a common and widespread moth of grassy sites, meadows and roadside verges in Nottinghamshire. The largest of the coppery/bronze Coleophoras, with a wingspan of 15-20mm, which helps lessen the problems of identification. In late August 2024, I was alerted to the larval cases of this moth, present on the seedheads of Yellow Melliot and found by Nick and Samantha Brownley at Bevercotes Pit Wood, which proved easy to find.
