Ten Redpoll were at Eakring Flash this morning, whilst 43 Teal in the same area, was the largest count of this Autumn by far. A Wigeon was also in with the Teal flock and was the first record since February. The regular Common Buzzard was again in the Lound Wood area. | |||

Two Goosander (a female and immature male) were at Eakring Flash, but left north after being disturbed. The only other wildfowl there were four Teal. 65 Fieldfare were in nearby fields and the area seemed typically quiet for mid-December. | |||

Two Goosander flew over Eakring Flash this morning, but were unable to land due to it being frozen over. The first Water Rail of the Winter so far, was heard calling in the bullrushes near the inflow pipe on the western side of the flash. Around seven Lesser Redpoll were again feeding in the rough vegetation. | |||

The Jack Snipe was again at Penny Pasture Common today, with a count of 15 Snipe both there and around the rest the Eakring Meadows reserve (per Tony Wardell and Robin Brace) |
