Eristalis horticola (De Geer, 1776)
Eristalis horticola is another fairly large species and often showing considerable variations in markings to some other Eristalis hoverflies. This one was photographed at Eakring Meadows in mid-August 2006. It is found in a wide range of habitats, but shows a preference for areas with bushes.
