Stenus providus (Erichson, 1839)
Found amongst many invertebrates by grass tussock sampling on Budby South Forest in late March 2013, the sample contained several Stenus species. One species to turn up was Stenus providus, which is fairly widespread across the northern-half of Nottinghamshire, but should be found more widely. Like many other Rove Beetles, Stenus always make for excellent photographic subjects, despite their generally small size and at least will pause long enough for photographs.
