Notiophilus biguttatus
A small ground beetle, with huge eyes and a characteristic appearance. There are several other similar species, but N. biguttatus is the commonest. A species of mixed habitats that includes gardens. Length 5-6mm. The one pictured was found in Sherwood Forest during July 2008.
