Megalinus glabratus (Gravenhorst, 1802)
A Rove Beetle with a predominantly east UK distribution. Megalinus glabratus seems generally uncommon in Nottinghamshire, although there are a few known county records which are accessible via the NBN Gateway. There is just a single record for Sherwood Forest, dating back to the early 1900's. The one photographed was found underneath rotting vegetation on an open area of sandy ground, near Edwinstowe in early October 2015.
