Mecinus pyraster (Herbst, 1795)
This small, predominantly black weevil, was one of two swept from long grass at Budby South Forest in June 2011 and represented the first record for the Sherwood Forest NNR. With a length of around 3.5mm, this small species is unlikely to be found by any other method of collection, other than sweeping.
