Leistus spinibarbis (Fabricius, 1775)
A colourful ground beetle, which is commonly found under logs or loose bark on fallen logs in a variety of habitats. Generally common in the areas we visit regularly. Although not totally evident in the photographs below, the adult has a beautiful metallic blue colouration.
