Cryptocephalus parvulus (Müller, O.F., 1776)
A rare Cryptocephalus beetle, with just one record from the very north of Nottinghamshire at Bawtry in 1983 (Skidmore, P.) This distinctly blue coloured adult was sent to us as a larval pot for identification after hatching and was collected at Fairburn Ings, south Yorkshire (Brothers, P.) in 2013, where it was a first site record. Cryptocephalus parvulus (Nb) has a patchy UK distribution and is likely to occur on Birch at other Nottinghamshire sites. There are no Sherwood Forest records, but the Sherwood area may just be too dry.
