A small centipede which has a limited distribution in
Nottinghamshire, which may be due to
the difficulties in identifying small Lithobius
centipedes and confusion with immature specimens of larger Lithobius species.
And to highlight the difficulty in centipede identification, it was
thanks to Steve Gregory, who correctly identified the specimen below, as
being Lamyctes emarginatus, rather than Lithobius microps,
we had originally identified it as. Lamyctes emarginatus has a
single ocellus, (Lithobius sp have multiple ocelli) which
should aid any ID. |
