Rhizophagus depressus (Fabricius, 1792)
This is an extremely small species, the one photographed measuring around 3mm in length. We have recorded Rhizophagus depressus on just two occasions, with both records typically coming from under bark at Sherwood Forest October 2008 and April 2020. One of several species in the UK, most Monotomidae species are found under bark, often in close proximity to fungal growth.
