Quedius molochinus (Gravenhorst, 1806)
Quedius molochinus is a medium sized Rove Beetle (Staphylinidae) the one photographed measuring approximately 10mm. They generally inhabit leaf litter and and other decaying matter and are good fliers. This one was found under a log at Eakring Meadows NR in February 2009. Rove Beetles are extremely difficult to identify to species' level and this one took many months.
