Pterostichus vernalis (Panzer, 1795)
One of several similarly coloured Ground Beetles. This is a common species, with a length of around 8mm. Several of these were found under logs at Eakring Meadows and under moss at Eakring Flash in November 2008, some in company with the much larger Pterostichus niger.
