Pterostichus nigrita (Paykull, 1790)
One of several similarly coloured Ground Beetles. This is a common species, with a length of around 8-12mm. Two of these were found in their earth cells, under a log at Eakring Meadows in October 2008 and in company with the much larger P. niger.
