Pterostichus minor (Gyllenhal, 1827)
One of the smaller of the numerous Pterostichus species found in Nottinghamshire. Pterostichus minor has a widespread distribution and is found in the vicinity of water. Because of that, there are a number of records from sites along the Trent Valley, with the one below being found at the former Gunthorpe gravel pits. There are several similar species, so identification needs some degree of care.
