Platynus assimilis (Paykull, 1790)
Platynus assimilis is a common Ground Beetle, measuring around 11.5mm in length. The one in the photographs was found with several Pterostichus niger and Silpha atrata, underneath the bark of some felled Willows at Penny Pasture Common, Eakring Meadows on 01/03/09.
