Philonthus decorus (Gravenhorst, 1802)
A common species of Rove Beetle and fairly large in size (15mm) The one photographed was one of several found under logs in an area of Sherwood Forest during October 2008. There are many Philonthus Rove Beetles, so identification of most is not easy.
