Othius punctulatus (Goeze, 1777)
A common Rove Beetle and one quite readily identified due to it's large size (around 12-14mm) and referring to suitable ID keys, as there are a number of similarly coloured species. Often found under logs, or in moss and leaf litter at the base of trees, such as were the two illustrated below - from Sherwood Forest in October 2008 and (top photographs) from Gibraltar Plantation in January 2024.
