Cyphon coarctatus (Paykull, 1799)
This is a small beetle with numerous potential confusion species, making any of the Cyphon species difficult to identify. We found good numbers of this beetle by beating flowering Hawthorn and Buckthorn at Langar in late May 2015. Identification was confirmed by dissection, which is the only real way to determine species accurately.
