There appears to be no modern records of this beautiful Histerid in Nottinghamshire,
with the only known records occurring well over 100 years ago when it
was described by J.W. Carr as being 'not uncommon' around South
Leverton. This is a beetle of old, well established manure heaps,
possibly with a preference for horse manure, but can sometimes be found
in other well-rotted piles of vegetation and straw etc. The one
illustrated here, was found in a manure sample taken from Lowdham by
Nick and Samantha Brownley in January 2026. |
