| Aphodius fimetarius |
||
| Several of this colourful Aphodius, were found in cattle dung at Tug Bridge Farm in mid-August 2008. Aphodius fimetarius is extremely similar to Aphodius foetens, but can be recognised in the field by the colour of the elytra, which in A. fimetarius is a much brighter, orange-red. Females are larger than the males, at up to 8mm in length. This is supposed to be the commoner of the two species, but we have found the opposite to be the case so far. | ||
