Acupalpus parvulus (Sturm, 1825)
A very small ground beetle which is difficult to find around the margins of ponds etc. Following the very dry Spring and Summer of 2011, the pool on Budby South Forest dried out completely, giving the opportunity to look under stones and other pieces of wood normally underwater. Under one large stone, were two beetles which turned out to be Acupalpus parvulus, and which also proved very difficult to photograph. Length 3.2mm. This is the first record for the Sherwood Forest NNR.
