Acilius sulcatus (Linnaeus, 1758)
This is a large Water Beetle which was caught in flight, well away from water on a sunny and warm September afternoon in the Red Hill area of Eakring. Acilius sulcatus is a distinctively marked species, but there are some very similar species. We have also recorded this beetle from Budby South Forest and more recently at Bevercotes Pit Wood.
