Tipula scripta (Meigen, 1830)
Crane Flies are difficult to identify unless using an identification key, so great care has to be taken when trying to identify them from photographs. Tipula scripta is a common and wide-ranging species over much of the UK, but there are few recent Nottinghamshire records and it is surely another under-recorded species. This female was photographed at Sherwood Forest CP in 2013.
