Stratiomys potamida (Meigen, 1822)
Stratiomis potamida is one of around 50 UK species of Soldier Flies. Easily mistaken at first for Hoverflies, these often brightly coloured insects are frequently found resting on foliage. This S. potamida was found at Clipstone Old Quarter in August 2009.
