Very similar to the more commonly recorded Stictopleurus
punctatonervosus, with both species being fairly recent colonisers
of the UK and subsequently, Nottinghamshire. The individual in the upper
two photographs, was caught flying
round various Thistles in a field at Lound Wood, Eakring in May 2026 and
good numbers of both fresh adults and nymphs in another field in August
2026
(Pendleton, T.A.). These seem to be only the
county's second and third etc records, following an earlier 2023 record from Ruddington
(Smith, M.). Both this species and Stictopleurus
punctatonervosus, need careful determination to confirm
identification. |
